Everything that comes up in email before someone buys Books, Library or Map — what Kirby is, what lands in the zip, what it costs to run, and what happens if it is not for you.
Kirby is a professional file-based CMS: every page is a folder with a text file, edited through a clean admin Panel, hosted on any PHP 8.2 server with no database. These three templates are complete Kirby 5 starterkits — templates, snippets, blueprints and demo content — built for people with printed work, book collections or networks to show.
A zip with the whole Kirby starterkit: templates, snippets, blueprints, CSS and JavaScript, plus the demo content you see in the live demos (45 original book designs for Books and Library, a node and marker set for Map) and a README.
The demo covers, spines and illustrations are original work and yours to keep, reuse or delete.
As many as you have. The demos run 45 books each and stay smooth. Books arranges them on a ring that grows with the collection; Library stands the spines at full size and lets the shelf run past the edge of the screen, so the titles stay readable and you scroll along it.
Map is built for a set you can hold in your head — a project, a team, an archive.
Yes. Books uses WebGL, Library uses touch-driven physics and Map supports touch dragging; all three run in current mobile browsers. Drag, tap and throw.
Each template has one Background colour field on the Site screen of the Panel. Buttons, lists, labels and panels switch between a dark and a light look on their own so they stay readable on any colour; Map can also invert black logos to white on dark backgrounds.
Kirby is free to develop and preview locally; a production licence (about €99) is bought from getkirby.com when a site goes live and is not included in the template price.
Each template is licensed per finished website, with 14-day money back. Template code may not be resold as a template.
Covers, spines and backs become real 3D books at their true millimetre proportions. Three.js.
Spines fall, collide and settle into a shelf you can grab, throw and scroll along. Matter.js.
